Visitors to BIA Airport lobby limited to speed up check-ins , Sri Lanka’s BIA Airport (BIA), Katunayake, has announced new measures to ensure smoother operations during peak hours. From now on, visitors will not be permitted to enter the departure lobby between 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Airport authorities said the move is designed to improve convenience for passengers and all airport users. BIA, Sri Lanka’s main international gateway, plays a critical role in connecting the island nation with the rest of the world. The restriction is also aimed at managing the large influx of tourists in the coming months, coinciding with the European travel season. A significant share of Sri Lanka’s annual tourist arrivals comes from European countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany and France. Russia too brings in a considerable number of tourists, while neighboring India brings in the highest number of visitors to the country per annum.
