If you are interested in watching Whales and Dolphins, the Sri Lanka Navy is ready to take you on an unforgettable sea expedition.

Passengers can board the cruise at 5.45 a.m. from either the Southern or Eastern naval ports of Sri Lanka and begin their journey into the open seas.

WHALES IN SOUTHERN SEAS

When boarding from Galle Port, the cruise will sail along the southern coastline, passing through Unawatuna, Weligama, Mirissa, Dondra Head, Mahaweli Points and Hikkaduwa, before returning to Galle Port.

WHALES IN THE EASTERN SEAS

The eastern sea voyage begins from the Nicholson Cove Pier at the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee. The cruise sails through the eastern waters, offering opportunities to observe whales closely in their natural habitat.

ONBOARD FACILITIES

Snacks and refreshments, beverages, a fully equipped medical team, and a professional life-saving and diving unit will be available onboard.

The cruise ship “Princess of Lanka”, operated by the Sri Lanka Navy, is used for this expedition. The vessel is equipped with a live broadcast camera system, allowing passengers to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding seascape throughout the journey.

CRUISE SCHEDULE

The ship will depart at 6.45 a.m. sharp and return by 12.00 noon after completing an excellent whale-watching expedition.

Sri Lankan seas are globally renowned for whale watching due to the abundance of whales found in these waters.

The best part is Sri Lankan population of blue whales are non-migratory, as found by Marine Biologist Dr. Asha de Vos.
