Why ‘Olivia Colman’ love Sri Lankan Foods

,

For Academy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman, Sri Lanka is more than just a holiday memory—it’s a culinary paradise.

Speaking in an interview with Condé Nast Traveller, Colman described her family trip to the island as “a holiday of a lifetime” and revealed that it was the food that left the deepest impression.

“I went to Sri Lanka for a sort of a holiday of a lifetime with the family, and that was the best food,” she said with a smile.

Colman shared her love for Sri Lankan cuisine during a lively conversation with fellow English actor Benedict Cumberbatch, as the two swapped stories about food and travel in countries like Japan, Italy, and the UK.

However, when it came to Coleman’s personal favorite, Sri Lanka clearly stood out.

Despite its small size, Sri Lanka boasts one of the most diverse and exciting food cultures in the world.

The southern coast is famous for fiery, spice-laden dishes; the northern region offers hearty meals rich in gravies and bold flavors.

While the central hill country surprises visitors with its own unique culinary traditions.

From fragrant rice and curry spreads to street-side hoppers and seafood fresh from the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka’s cuisine is as varied as its landscapes.

As Olivia Colman has discovered, it’s a food journey that lingers long after the holiday ends.
