When the Elephants Cross The Road Guided By a Traffic Cop in Sri Lanka: Watch Video

This is a recurring scene at Pinnawala, in Sri Lanka’s Central Province, where visitors often witness the giants are being guided across the road on their way to the nearby river.

They are the residents of the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic centres for the care and conservation of the animal.

Visitors to Pinnawala have the opportunity to observe the elephants at close range and witness their daily routines, including feeding, bathing and social interaction along the nearby river.

Crossing the road to reach the river for their daily bath is an important part of this routine, with police officers helping ensure they cross the road safely and the motorists too remain safe.
