Vietjet to Direct Connect Colombo and Ho Chi Minh , Vietjet Air will launch direct flights between Colombo and Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnamese capital, from August 2026. The move was announced last week in Colombo during bilateral talks between the President of Vietnam, His Excellency Lo Tam, and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. Under the new service, Vietjet Air will operate four weekly round-trip flights between Colombo and Ho Chi Minh City. The new route is expected to support Sri Lanka’s growing tourism sector and strengthen the country’s efforts to attract more visitors from the Asia-Pacific region. Industry experts believe the service will further enhance Sri Lanka’s tourism promotions targeting markets such as Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, and several other Asia-Pacific countries. Vietjet Air currently operates a fleet of 135 aircraft serving destinations worldwide. Sri Lankan travel experts also point out that tourists from countries such as India, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and other nearby Asia-Pacific markets. They say, travelers from those countries can travel to Sri Lanka through direct flights or short-haul connections. Experts believe this connectivity advantage can be effectively promoted to attract more tourists to Sri Lanka from across the Asia-Pacific region.
