Transport: Trains resumes in Sri Lanka to Selected Regions! , Transport: Train Services to Badulla, Jaffna, Kandy, Trinco, and Batticaloa Routes Still Suspended Sri Lanka has begun restoring its island wide public transport network, which suffered severe disruption following the catastrophic destruction caused by Cyclone Ditwah. Extensive flooding, landslides, and fallen trees have damaged large sections of the nation’s rail and road infrastructure, bringing public transportation to a near standstill over the past two days. Both Sri Lanka Railways and the country’s public and private bus services were forced to halt operations as access routes became impassable. However, with coordinated efforts by disaster-response authorities, engineers, and regional teams, several key routes have now been reactivated with buses and trains travelling to thos regions. Authorities confirmed that limited number of trains have resumed on selected lines, offering much-needed mobility for affected communities. Bus operations have also been partially restored in specific districts where roads have been cleared. However, some of Sri Lanka’s major rail corridors remain out of service due to extensive damage: Colombo – Badulla (Main Line) Colombo – Jaffna (Kankesanthurai Line) Colombo – Kandy / Matale Colombo – Trincomalee Colombo – Batticaloa Colombo – Puttalam Officials stated that repairs are ongoing but warned that services on these routes will not resume until further notice. Sri Lanka has started clearing debris, and will focus on assessing landslide risks, and repairing washed-out tracks and signaling systems. However the time period for a total restoration of rail and road networks is not yet clear. The government urges the public to stay updated through official announcements and to exercise caution when traveling in affected areas.
