SriLankan Cautions Passengers of a ‘Scam’ via impersonating , SriLankan Airlines has issued a public warning about a surge in scam activities targeting its passengers and potential customers. In a statement, the airline said it has identified incidents of individuals impersonating its staff through WhatsApp and direct phone calls. These scammers have reportedly asked recipients to install mobile applications, share their screens, or disclose sensitive financial information such as one-time passwords (OTPs), banking PINs, and credit card details. The airline emphasized that it does not contact customers via WhatsApp or make unsolicited calls regarding ticketing, promotions, or any other services. It also clarified that it never requests confidential information such as OTPs, banking PINs, or credit card details, nor does it ask customers to share screens or install applications. SriLankan Airlines strongly advises the public to remain vigilant, ignore such communications, and report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities. This is the second time the airline has issued a public warning to its customers. On 12 February, SriLankan Airlines first alerted the public via its official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) account about an ongoing scam. In its latest announcement, the airline also stated that passengers and customers should verify all promotions and offers only through its official website, www.srilankan.com, or through its verified social media channels.
