TripAdvisor ranks Mirissa and Bentota among Asia’s Top Beaches

Sri Lanka’s Southern Beaches of Mirissa and Bentota have been ranked among Asia’s top 10 by the TripAdvisor.

Accordingly, the 2026 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Beaches list, Mirissa was placed fifth, while Bentota secured seventh.

The winning beaches has been chosen by the Trip Advisor is awarded to those Beaches receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the TripAdvisor community over a 12-month period.

Trip Advisor says, ‘Out of our 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone” and Mirrissa and Bentoto are among the 1 percent.

Mirissa

Mirissa’s moon-shaped bay is famous for blue whale watching, with boats departing daily during the season and high chances of sightings.

Beyond whales, visitors can snorkel near Parrot Rock, surf the western reef break, join yoga classes, or hike to Mirissa’s not-so-secret Secret Beach.

Dining options are plentiful, and evenings can be lively.

My View: Good Beach, as said, good options.

Bentota

Sri Lanka’s west coast features many large resort hotels, but Bentota of Galle District stands out.

Its long golden beach ends at a sand spit separating the ocean from a lagoon.

Water sports, safe swimming, and lifeguards make it popular with families, though independent beachside restaurants are limited.

My View: known for family outings. Has been steadily attracting numbers over the years.
