IndiGo Cancellations: What is the Flight Disruption Policy of the Airline?

IndiGo Cancellations: What is the Flight Disruption Policy of the Airline?

,

IndiGo has a Plan ‘B’

India’s aviation sector was thrown into chaos on Friday after IndiGo — the country’s largest airline — cancelled close to 1,000 flights, leaving thousands of passengers stranded across major airports.

In a video statement released on Friday, CEO of the Airline Pieter Elbers apologized to the public for the massive disruptions.

According to reports, the airline has cited the cancellations on pilot shortages following its inability to adapt to new crew rostering regulations.

The crisis has worsened India’s travel situation, with the BBC reporting that hundreds of additional flights were cancelled throughout the day.

The Airline currently commands nearly 60% of India’s domestic aviation market and operates over 2,000 flights daily.

IndiGo Policy on Flight Cancellations?

Amid the ongoing situation, passengers are seeking clarity on their rights and options.

On its Website, IndiGo has reassured customers that they will not be left without support.

“If your flight is cancelled or rescheduled from our end, you need not worry. We have a Plan B for you, ” The Airlines Website says.

Accordingly, IndiGo’s Plan B allows passengers to independently manage disruptions at no extra charge when the cancellation or rescheduling is initiated by the airline.

IndiGo offers Plan B

If your flight is cancelled, or rescheduled significantly, you can:

1. Rebook on Another IndiGo Flight

Choose a new flight (subject to availability) free of cost.

2. Cancel and Get a Full Refund

You may opt for a 100% refund without any penalties or cancellation fees.

3. Manage Changes Online

Passengers can use the Plan B portal to make changes immediately without waiting for call-center support.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR PLAN ‘B’ ?

You can use Plan B if:

  • Your flight is cancelled by IndiGo,
  • Your flight is postponed by 2 hours or more, or
  • Your flight is advanced by 1 hour or more.

Connecting flight passengers are also covered under these rules.
