Ishank a young Boy From India after crossing the palk straight by swimming

Indian Kid Enters the List of Palk Straight Swimmers

A Seven-year-old Indian Boy named Ishank Singh today successfully swimmed across the Palk Straight.

7-year-old Ishank from Ranchi, India just set a world record by swimming 29km across the Strait from Sri Lanka to India.

The significant feat was achieved by him in just 9 hours and 50 minutes, thus becoming the youngest ever to conquer this route!

The Boy from Jharkhand’s Ranchi began him swim at 4 am and completed at 1.50 pm.

The waterway in the Palk straigt which lies between Sri Lanka and India is challenging due to strong currents, sea waves, and unpredictable weather.

The 29 kilo meter stretch lies between Talaimannar in Sri Lanka and Arichalmunai in Dhanushkodi.

Even though finding official details of the persons  who has tried this challenge is difficult, wishes to bring to you the following who achieved the mark.

WHO ELSE HAVE CROSSED THE PALK STRAIGHT

Murugapillai Navratnaswami of Sri Lanka has completed the swim in 1954 with a timing of 26 hours and 50 minutes..

V. S. Kumar Anandan, the nephew of Navaratnaswami completed the swim in 1963 that has taken 42 hours .

Roshan Abeysundara of Sri Lanka Air Force has set a record in 2021 by swimming back and forth ( 59.3 KM) in 28 hours and 19 minutes.

The British Swimmer Adam Moss and Edie Hu, the American swimmer based in Hong Kong competed the corssing in 10 hours and 18 minutes in 2020.

Bula Chowdhury Chakraborty cross the line in 2004 in 13 hours and 52 minutes.

 Syamala Goli from Telangana, India cites on her facebook that she crossed the line on the   on 19th March, 2021.

“I swam across the PALK STRAIT which is 30 km between Talaimannar, Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi, India. Started Learn swimming in 2016 and Inspired by an article which is regarding English Channel,” she has added on her facebook.

Swimming across the palk straight gives an ideal opportunity for swimmers across the world an opportunity to engage in an adventure.

They will have to get the clearance from Sri Lankan and Indian authorities, have back up safety and health contingency plans in line, before embarking on the journey.
