‘Ella Odyssey’ Re-Starts – Tourists Delighted , Sri Lanka Railways has announced the resumption of the popular ‘Ella Odyssey’ train service from January 7. The service will operate between Ambewela and Badulla, commencing on Wednesday (07 January). Initially, the train will run once a week on Wednesdays, with the possibility of adding more services based on passenger demand. Train Schedule From Badulla to Ambewela Departure: 07.45 a.m. Arrival: 10.58 a.m. From Ambewela to Badulla Departure: 01.30 p.m. Arrival: 04.15 p.m. Sri Lanka Railways noted that the number of journeys on this route may be increased depending on passenger requirements. “Still we are happy with the resumption – as it gives us an opportunity to further explore the country” said a couple from France. The Ella Odyssey train service originally operated from Kandy to Badulla. However, due to ongoing disruptions on the Main Line railway services, the operation has been temporarily limited to the Ambewela–Badulla sector. The Ella Odyssey remains one of the most popular train journeys in Sri Lanka’s upcountry railway network. The journey offers passengers a scenic travel experience through the central highlands.
