Airlines diverted from Colombo as bad weather strikes Sri Lanka , Airlines diverts flights from Colombo. Sri Lanka’s ongoing Bad Weather has caused 15 inbound flights to Colombo Airport (BIA) rerouted since yesterday, announced Daily Mirror. The flights have been rerouted for Mattala Airport in the Deep South of Sri Lanka, Trivendrum and Coachin of South India. In addition to the diversions, 16 scheduled flights at BIA have experienced delays. Heavy rain, coupled with a Cyclone, landslides and flooding has resulted in entire Sri Lanka coming to a standstill by ‘Friday’ morning. Over 65,000 electricity disruptions are reported Islandwide. People, including University Students, Tourists and more have been stranded owing to floods and landslides. Country’s Capital Colombo is also under threat for heavy flooding, while thousands of families across the Island is displaced. Transportation in almost in the entire country has suffered heavily, as buses, tuk-tuks and railways segments are unable to operate owing to floods, landslides, falling trees, apart from rain and winds.
