Russia S7 to Launch Direct Siberia–Colombo Flights During Winter

Russia’s S7 Airlines is set to launch direct flights between Novosibirsk in Siberia and Colombo from December 2026, providing a twice-weekly air link between the two destinations during the peak winter season.

The new service will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, making it easier and more convenient for Russian travellers, particularly those from Siberia, to visit Sri Lanka.

Flights departing from Tolmachevo Airport in Novosibirsk are scheduled to leave at 5:15 a.m. on Thursdaysand 5:00 a.m. on Sundays, arriving atColombo Airport at 1:40 p.m.

Return flights from Colombo will depart at 2:50 p.m. on the same days, arriving in Novosibirsk at approximately 2:15 a.m. the following day.

The total journey time is expected to be around 10 hours, including a technical refuelling stop in Jaipur, India, during which passengers will remain onboard the aircraft.

S7 Airlines has announced that tickets for the new route are already on sale, marking the airline’s latest expansion into the South Asian market.

Russian tourists remain one of the key source markets for Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. More than 125,000 Russian tourists visited Sri Lanka during the first eight months of this year.

Last year, Sri Lanka recorded186,580 tourist arrivals from Russia, and the upward trend is expected to continue in the coming year.

The new air connectivity between Siberia and Colombo is expected to further strengthen tourism ties between Russia and Sri Lanka, while providing greater accessibility to the island for travellers from the region.
