Hatton Depot to Launch ‘Safari Bus’ For Tourists

Sri Lanka’s Hatton Bus Depot is planning to launch a ‘Safari Bus’ to allow tourists to explore the area’s attractions with ease and comfort.

The bus service, which will begin operations on Monday, will run routes to Adam’s Peak and Nuwara Eliya.

Along the journey, tourists will have the opportunity to enjoy sightseeing, including waterfalls, streams, tea plantations, and beautiful valleys.

This service will cater to both local and international tourists visiting the region.

The bus is equipped with 42 seats, air conditioning, a sound system, and a television.

It has also been modified to include an open roof and large windows for better sightseeing.

Additionally, it features a small meeting space.

The ‘Safari Bus’ has been refurbished from an old bus that was previously parked at the CTB depot in Ratmalana.

Although it had been put up for auction, it was never sold.

The bus has been originally in use during the 1990s for public transportation.

Depot Manager Mr. Palitha Bandara stated that the bus will also be available for rent to tourism organizations that wish to organize expeditions.

“For 12 hours and 100 kilometers, we will charge only Rs. 40 per kilometer. Any additional distance will be charged at Rs. 210 per kilometer,” he added.
