Talpe Station of The Coastal Line Gets a ‘Revamp’

Under Sri Lanka’s latest ‘Dream Destination’ Programme, the Talpe Railway Station on the southern coast has received a significant facelift.

Nestled between two of country’s most popular beach destinations, Koggala and Unawatuna, Talpe is a hidden tourist attraction.

With the latest revamp, the Railway Station has been transformed into a safer, cleaner, and more dignified public space.

“We’re proud to have been part of this meaningful transformation,” Star Garments stated on its official Facebook page.

The company played a key role in empowering the station’s redevelopment.

“Looking forward to seeing Talpe Station serve travellers for many years to come, an important step in reimagining Sri Lanka’s railway journey,” the company added.

Talpe station is part of one of the country’s most scenic coastal rail route, which travels along the Indian Ocean.

“Set against turquoise waters and swaying palms, Talpe is where the railway runs almost alongside the sea, framed by coral reefs and golden beaches,” said Ms. Kirmali Fernando, former Chairperson of Sri Lanka Tourism.

Under the ‘Dream Destination’ Programme, the Government plans to renovate 100 railway stations, with Talpe being one of those.
