Sri Lanka’s Hunas Holdings Partners a Japanese Tycoon to Explore Real Estate and Hospitality Opportunities

,

Sri Lankan leisure and diversified investment company Hunas Holdings PLC is looking to expand its footprint in the real estate and hospitality sectors through a new strategic partnership.

In its bid toward the move, the firm announced to its shareholders that it has strike a deal with Japanese investor Yoshimichi Watanabe, opening a potential new chapter in the company’s international growth strategy.

The partnership, entered into on 14 September, is aimed at identifying, developing and managing potential real estate and hospitality projects by combining the expertise, networks and resources of both parties, according to a disclosure to the Colombo Stock Exchange.

The move also brings an international investment dimension to Hunas Holdings’ expansion plans.

Watanabe has investment exposure across e-commerce, hospitality and real estate in Japan and overseas markets, including Bali, Indonesia.

He also has an established investment relationship with Sri Lanka, having made multiple investments in the country over the years.

For Hunas Holdings, the significance of the partnership extends beyond attracting a foreign investor.

The partnership enables the firm to connect Sri Lankan hospitality and real estate opportunities with international investment experience, networks and development models.

Hunas said the partnership is expected to support the expansion of its presence in the two sectors and create opportunities to identify and develop new projects as part of its long-term growth strategy.

The development comes as Sri Lanka’s tourism and leisure sectors continue to see growth both interms of visitors to the country and also investor interest from overseas.

Hunas Holdings (HUNA.N0000 ) Share was sold at LKR 14.80 today at the Colombo Stock Exchange, a rise of 4.23 Percent, a 0.60 Rs increase from previous days trading.
