Knuckles Mountain Range to Get A Seven Star Boutique Hotel

Knuckles Mountain Range to Get A Seven Star Boutique Hotel

,

Sri Lanka’s Knuckles Mountain Range, a UN-listed heritage site, is set to welcome the country’s first seven-star luxury boutique hotel, the Board of Investment (BOI) announced.

The BOI and Ambasevena Holdings have signed an agreement for the project.

It will see an investment of USD 31.5 million.

According to the BOI, the uniquely designed, star-class property will feature 60 chalets, aimed at creating a diverse and sustainable ecosystem.

Means, it will offer a novel luxury experience for discerning guests.

Knuckles Mountain Range to Get A Seven Star Boutique Hotel

The Knuckles Mountain Range is one of Sri Lanka’s most important environmental hotspots.

Locally known as the Dumbara Mountain Range, the term Dumbara Kaduwetiya translates to “mist-laden mountain range.”

The area was officially listed as a UN heritage site in 2010.

Despite the appeal of a star-class luxury property within the range, users on platform X have raised concerns regarding the establishment of a leisure property in such a sensitive ecological zone.

The region acquired the name “Knuckles” during the British colonial era.

This was owing to the fact that the mountain peaks were said to resemble a clenched fist.

The British ruled Sri Lanka for over 150 years, until the country gained independence in 1948.
