Ella is Safe as Tourist Returns to the destination

Tourists Delighted with as ‘Ella Is Safe’ Campaign picks up!

Ella is once again safe and ready to welcome visitors.

The most significant development is the resumption of train services between Badulla and Ambewela.

The train passes through the popular tourism hotspot of Ella.

The resumption on the 20th December saw hundreds of tourists travelling in both directions, with many disembarking in the destination.

Local reports shared on credible social media platforms operated by area residents, hoteliers, and tourism stakeholders assures that Ella is Safe.

Main road access routes, including the Ella–Wellawaya road, which is used by public buses, are fully open for vehicles, even for those travelling from Colombo.

“We climbed Little Adam’s Peak this morning without any issues, visited a tea plantation, and went to the Nine Arch Bridge this afternoon — everything was fine,” a traveler said in a social media update.

Train services between Badulla–Ambewela and Vice Versa will operate daily, both in the morning and evening, except on Wednesdays, which will operate only once from each end.

A travel operator from Kandy, Richard, has also shared several photographs on Facebook, highlighting the revival of tourism activities in the area.

Major attractions such as Little Adam’s Peak, the Nine Arch Bridge, and Ravana Ella are all open and safe for travelers.

Shops, hotels, and other amenities in the area are fully open and operational.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Tourism joined a group of foreign tourists today to celebrate “Ella’s Return to Tourism.”

According to the latest Met update which is valid until today 2 pm, no rain is predicted for the Badulla District, where the tourism hotspot is located.
