How a UK Family Found a ‘Peacock’ in their Bedroom? , The Family is touring Sri Lanka as the plans to explore Asia Ros and Tom, along with their two children—popularly known as the Globe Trotting Family—have shared their delightful and surprising first 24 hours in Sri Lanka. In 2018, the couple from the UK decided to leave behind their “monotonous 9-to-5 family matrix” in search of a more fulfilling life. “We left our 9–5 family matrix life for our best life in Portugal,” they wrote on their family website.Since then, they have embraced a lifestyle where “everyday is a holiday.” After travelling widely across Europe and living in Portugal for six years, the family has now moved to Asia for the very first time—and Sri Lanka is the country they started with. “After 6 years of living in central Portugal, we have now spread our wings and jumped out of our comfort zone to travel Asia,” Ros and Tom said on their website. Adventure in Sri Lanka The journey of the UK family began in Lisbon, Portugal—a nation with historical ties to Sri Lanka. They continued via Abu Dhabi before the family finally landed at Bandaranaike International Airport, Sri Lanka’s main airport. Upon arrival, the four-member family travelled straight to Ahangama, the charming southern coastal town known for its nearby beaches, surfing spots, and vibrant tourist culture. Renting out a ‘Home’ For their stay, Ros and Tom rented a small, earthy, homely house nestled among paddy fields, lush greenery, and a few friendly neighbours. The house, surrounded by local wildlife, soon offered its first surprise—a peacock wandering into their bedroom in the early morning! Just imagine the ‘surprise’ Renting out a Car If you’re looking to stay long, the ideal is to get a small car on ‘Rent’ ad Ros and Tom decided to Rent out a ‘Alto’ car, a car of the majority of Sri Lanka.
